Unseen Photo Fair & Festival’s Head of Artistic Affairs, Emilia van Lynden, joins the esteemed jury of the annual competition celebrating emerging photographers working in Canada, the US and the UK, Flash Forward 2017.
For its 13th edition, the Magenta Foundation awards several prizes, including the 2017 Bright Spark, a cash prize of $8,000 for an emerging photographer whose submitted body of work is identified by the jury as being extraordinarily accomplished. A 2nd place $2,000 cash prize will be awarded, as well as the $10,000 Flash Forward Emerging Photographer Project Grant. Flash Forward Winners and Honourable Mentions will have their work published in a beautifully printed catalogue, and a selection of photographs will be exhibited as part of the Flash Forward Group Show in Toronto, Canada in Fall 2017.
Emilia van Lynden joins the UK & International jurors Dana Gaba (Photo Editor, The Wall Street Journal), Matthew Beaman (Photography Director, Monocle Magazine), Lisa Rovner (Storyteller), Julie Thymann (Production Head of Art, Mother), Andy Greenacre (Picture Editor, Telegraph Magazine), Laura Noble (Director, L A Noble Gallery), Azu Nwagbogu (Director, Lagos Photo Festival and African Artists Foundation) and Lucy Conticello (Photography Director, M, Le magazine du Monde).
The competition is open to all photographers 34 years of age or under, working in Canada, the UK, and the US. Submissions will be accepted until the 31st of December 2016. Visit the website for more information.
